Here are the essential 2027 holidays you need to mark on your calendar right now.

Holidays in China 2027 — Important Dates

New Year’s Day 2027

  • Date: January 1 (Friday)
  • Days Off: January 1–3 (Friday to Sunday)

As January 1st in 2027 is a Friday, it provides an opportunity for extended celebrations of the coming new year.

Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) 2027

  • Date: February 6 (Saturday)
  • Days Off: February 5–11 (Friday through Thursday)

Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China, welcoming the Year of the Goat (Sheep) in 2027. It is a time of colorful celebrations and the period of the largest internal migration in the world, known as Chunyun.

The Chinese May Day weekend is a great time for travel. It is a period of peak tourism, with hotels and attractions experiencing increased commercial activity.

Dragon Boat Festival 2027 

  • Date: June 9 (Wednesday)
  • Days Off: June 7–9 (Monday through Wednesday)

The Dragon Boat Festival commemorates the poet Qu Yuan, who committed suicide in a river. In his honor, Chinese people participate in river dragon boat races and eat zongzi—sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. The holiday falls on a different date each year; in 2027, it falls on June 9th.

Mid-Autumn Festival 2027

  • Date: September 15 (Wednesday)
  • Days Off: September 13–15 (Monday through Wednesday)

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a time for family gatherings, admiring the full moon, and eating traditional mooncakes. In 2027, the Mooncake Festival falls on September 15th.

National Day / Golden Week 2027
