Guangzhou fabric markets. A Guide
How to get to Guangzhou?
Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is one of the largest in China and has an extensive route network. The best option to get to the center is to go by taxi or subway (line 3 to Guangzhou East Station). You can also choose express buses to downtown. A railway line from the airport is under construction.
From Hong Kong airport, you can reach Guangzhou by coach (220-250 HKD) or ferry (one and a half an hour, up to 400 HKD).
From more distant, larger cities of China, it is easy to get to Guangzhou by train – it takes 7 hours from Shanghai, 8 hours from Beijing, and 4 hours from Nanning. As there are three large railway stations in Guangzhou (Guangzhou South, Guangzhou East, and Guangzhou), you should pay special attention to the station written on the ticket.

How to get around Guangzhou?
It is recommended to purchase a convenient prepaid public transport card Lingnan Pass – Yang Cheng Tong. It costs 70 RMB (including 20 RMB as a deposit), and you can use it on buses, subways, some taxis, and even vending machines and telephone booths. The card is available in 7-Eleven stores and at metro stations.
Guangzhou has an extensive metro system. The stations are described and announced in Chinese and English. The fare ranges from 2 to 19 RMB (it is cheaper with the card described above).
It’s difficult to come across an English-speaking taxi driver, so it is recommended to prepare information about the destination in Chinese characters. Taxi fare starts at 10 RMB for the first 2.3 km, then 2.6 RMB for each kilometer.
The cost of a bus ticket is a minimum of 1 RMB per course. Stations are announced in Mandarin, Cantonese, and sometimes in English. Buses run from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; night buses are also available (fares from 3 RMB).
Before placing bulk orders from any Guangzhou fabric supplier, always verify their credentials and inspect samples—especially when dealing with dozens of similar-looking stalls. China-Check's supplier verification and quality control services can help you avoid costly mistakes and ensure your fabric meets U.S. standards. Don't leave your sourcing to chance.
